  • May1946

    Sosuke Yamamoto founded a private company, Yamamoto Gumi, in Tsukida, Yahata,

    as part of the measures for the displaced workers of Yahata Steel Works (now Nippon Steel Corporation’s Kyushu Steel Works Yahata Area).

  • July1947

    Started onsite work as a subcontractor of Yahata Steel Works.
    (Initially, the company was engaged in repair work on freight cars for in-yard transportation. Subsequently, the company received orders for contracted civil engineering and other work, including regular work in the production process.)*

  • January1948

    Rented a factory in Ichieda, Tobata, from Yahata Steel Works and started operating the factory.
    (In the beginning, the company manufactured daily necessities, agricultural machinery, buckets, and other sheet metal products.)

  • November1948

    Yamamoto Industries, Ltd. was incorporated with a capital of three million yen.
    The first president was Sosuke Yamamoto, and the company received its first order for drums from Yahata Steel Works at that time.

  • April1949

    The company’s drum factory was completed in the Ichieda Plant, and the company made a full-scale entry into drum production.

  • July1950

    Received special orders for drums from the U.S. military and became one of the nation’s leading drum manufacturers.

  • March1951

    The Tokyo Liaison Office (currently the Tokyo Branch) was established.

  • March1955

    Akiko Yamamoto became president.

  • March1961

    The headquarters and plant were relocated to Tobata Ward’s Kawashiro 1-chome.

  • July1961

    The Osaka Branch was opened.

  • June1962

    Obtained approval for the Japanese Industrial Standard (JIS Z 1601 Class 1) for drums

  • May1964

    Started onsite work (including billet-handling) at Kokura Works of Sumitomo Metal Industries, Ltd. (now Nippon Steel Corporation’s Kyushu Steel Works, Yahata Area).*

  • October1965

    Delivered the first Dust Collector to the Kanda Cement Plant of Ube Industries, Ltd.

  • October1966

    Absorbed Shin Kyokuto Kogyo and established the Dust Collector Division (now the Engineering Department).

  • January1969

    Concluded a technical cooperation agreement with Hapman for the Tubular Conveyor and started the production and sales of the Tubular Conveyor.

    Yuzo Yamamoto became president.

  • January1976

    Established KYUSHU WHEEL KOGYO, Co., Ltd. as a joint venture with Topy Industries, Limited.*

    Started onsite operations (Kanda Plant) for KYUSHU WHEEL KOGYO, Co., Ltd.*

  • May1987

    With the widening of the Wakato Bridge, the company’s headquarters and plant were completely relocated to Yahatahigashi Ward’s Edamitsu to become a state-of-the-art (at that time) computer-controlled plant.

  • October1989

    Received the first order for repair work from the Kanda Cement Plant of Ube Industries, Ltd.

  • May1990

    Concluded a technology transfer agreement with HammerTech Inc. and started the production and sales of the Super Elbow.

  • July1992

    Established an office in the Kyushu Plant of Mitsubishi Materials Corporation and entered the cement plant repair business at full scale.

  • December1992

    Established the Plant Operating Department (Kurate) and contracted with Topy Industries, Ltd. to undertake tire and wheel setting work at the Kurate Plant.

  • May1999

    Became Japan’s first drum manufacturer to use helium-type airtightness inspection equipment for 200-liter drums. The company introduced it to the headquarters plant and strengthened its quality assurance system for drums.

    The company was selected as a primary steelwork contractor for the Kanda and Isa cement plants of Ube Industries, Ltd.

    Obtained ISO certification for its quality system
    (ISO9002:1994, JIS Z 9902:1998; applies to the drum business at the headquarters plant).

  • October2001

    Established the Plant Maintenance Department separately to undertake equipment maintenance for cement plants.

  • October2004

    Took over the drum business from Sansei Container Manufacturing and established the Omuta Steel Drum Plant to expand the foundation of the drum business.

  • May2005

    Delivered the Baghouse Dust Collector to the treatment facility for kiln exhaust gas at the Kumagaya Plant of Taiheiyo Cement Corporation.

  • January2009

    Introduced helium-type airtightness inspection equipment for small cans at the headquarters plant. (Yamamoto Industries is the only company in Japan that uses this equipment for small cans.)

  • May2012

    Kazuo Yamamoto became president.

  • May2014

    Introduced helium-type airtightness inspection equipment for 200L drums to the Omuta Steel Drum Plant.

  • March2015

    The Representative Office Hanoi opened.*

  • March2018

    Updated ISO 9001 (ISO 9001:2015 and JIS Q 9001:2015).

  • April2023

    Acquired all shares of SUNTECHNO Co., Ltd. and made it a wholly owned subsidiary.

  • February2024

    Yamamoto Industries, Ltd. and SUNTECHNO Co., Ltd. merged our business.
